Love throws touchdown in Packers preseason opener victory
CINCINNATI, Oh. (CBS 58) - The Green Bay Packers opened the preseason out in Cincinnati Friday with a 36-19 win.
Nine players did not play in the game including Rashan Gary, Jaire Alexander, David Bakhtiari, and Eric Stokes.
Jordan Love did make his first start as the new Packers starting quarterback. He played in two drives throwing 7-10 for 46 yards and a touchdown. His first drive stalled out and ended with punt. But on the second drive, he lobbed a pass up to Romeo Doubs for a 9-yard touchdown.
Most of the Packers usual starts that played only stayed on the field for a series or two.
Sean Clifford played most of the game as Love's backup. He throws for 208 yards, completing 20 of 26 throws. He threw a touchdown and was picked off twice. One of his interceptions was a pick-6.
Rookie running back Emmanuel Wilson stuck out with 6 carries for 111 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including an 80-yard run in the fourth.
Rookie kicker started perfect on the day making his first four kicks including a 45-yard field goa; but he missed his next two extra point attempts.
The Packers defense didn't allow a touchdown and picked off Bengals quarterbacks twice. One from rookie draft pick Carrington Valentine, the other from Dallin Leavitt.
