OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- While her campaign for governor is in full swing, Sara Rodriguez took the day to talk about the need for food assistance programs across the state.
The lieutenant governor took a tour of a place called Family Sharing of Ozaukee County. It's a volunteer-run thrift store which uses the money to support their food pantry.
Rodriguez highlighted the need to support local pantries as the federal government threatens to cut food assistance programs across the board.
"What they are looking for is donations year-round," Rodriguez said. "Food insecurity doesn't wait for the holidays; people are needing food all year round. This is providing an important service for Ozaukee County."
