MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The man accused of severely injuring a 16-year-old Greenfield soccer captain pled 'no contest' in court Friday afternoon.

Walter Grebe, 34, pleaded 'no contest' to count one, hit-and-run incident involving great bodily harm, accepting full conviction, without a plea or admitting guilt.

On the evening of May 2, Grebe allegedly struck Trevor Le-Morrison with his vehicle and fled the scene. The teen suffered a broken collarbone, two broken femurs and fractures to vertebrae in his neck, as well as internal bleeding.

"That offense is a Class E Felony, that means upon conviction, you could be looking at a fine of up to $50,000 or imprisonment for not more than 15 years, or both; do you understand that?" asked Judge Laura Crivello.

The victim's mother faced the suspect with tears streaming down her face as multiple family members of the man in question entered the room in support.

"Are you satisfied that your client understands the rights he's giving up today by pleading no contest, including any motions or defense?" Judge Crivello asked the defendant's attorney.

Grebe would also have his drivers' license revoked for two years.

As for Le-Morrison, he won't be able to play soccer for at least a year.

His mother, Oanh Le, said after months of rest and recovery, the high school senior is back and ready to finish the school year. She told CBS 58 off camera that seeing and hearing Grebe was difficult considering she almost lost her child.

The sentencing date has been set for March 2, 2023.
