Marquette begins the NCAA tournament against North Carolina

MILWAUKEE, (CBS 58) -- Marquette is back in the NCAA tournament for the 34th time in their program's history and their first appearance with first-year head coach Shaka Smart.

The Golden Eagles (19-12) are the 9 seed in the East region.

Marquette will face 8 seeded North Carolina (24-9) with tipoff set for Thursday, March 17 in Fort Worth, Texas. The tipoff time is TBD

The Golden Eagles return to the tournament for the first time since 2019 when they faced Murray State.
