MCTS seeks community input on future of public transportation in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County officials want to hear from you on the future of our transit system. They are holding a number of open houses and community meetings on two redesign concepts.

They are looking at what will be more important to those who use the bus -- either building ridership or maintaining route coverage.

Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) officials say community input will help build a bus network that is stable, sustainable and scalable.

"It's really two ends of the spectrum of how we can allocate resources with this much of a deficit cut," said Jesus Ochoa, MCTS director of service development. "So what we're asking riders is, what do you value in your transit system? Do you value buses that come more frequently but go less places? Do you value routes that cover more of the county but come maybe less frequently?"  

The next MCTS Forward open house is set for next Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Independence First in Milwaukee.
