Milwaukee mayor honors city's heroes at inaugural Peacebuilder Awards
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Peace Week is in full swing, and a breakfast was held to recognize those who keep the city safe.
Nine people were given the mayor's inaugural "Peacebuilder Awards" for their impact in the community
These unsung heroes play a major role in both reducing the city's violence and supporting Milwaukee's first responders.
"But those guys and ladies, it doesn't matter the time of day, they go out, they encourage families, they instill hope, and they are a really important part of our public safety eco-system in Milwaukee," said Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
Peacebuilder Award Honorees include:
- Dr. Angelique W. Lewis, Credible Clinicians and Healers Network
- Bridget Whitaker, Safe & Sound
- David Muhammad, Milwaukee County Department of Health & Human Services
- Keyara James, WestCare Wisconsin
- Kimberly Moorer, Credible Clinicians and Healers Network
- Malik Edwards, Critical Response Team Youth Ambassadors
- Marty Calderon, Milwaukee Promise Keepers
- Raven Jones, Critical Response Team
- Krystal Lee, 414Life
