MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee teen has been found safe four years after she was reported missing. 

Joniah Walker went missing in June of 2022. She was 15 years old at the time. 

Milwaukee police on Tuesday confirmed Walker was found safe on May 25 of this year.

Representative Shelia Stubbs (D-Madison) released a statement Tuesday, June 30, saying in part:

“Today is a wonderful day. This morning, I learned the amazing news that Joniah Walker, who has been missing since June 23, 2022, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has been found safe.

I have been waiting and praying for the day of Joniah’s safe return." 

Rep. Stubbs went on to thank Walker's mother for advocating alongside her at the State Capitol for a Missing and Murdered African American Women and Girls Task Force.

"I will continue to advocate for this bill to become law and for the task force to be created," she said.
