NOW: New video shows the moment 7-year-old Jamal White was taken

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - On Friday, July 11, 7-year-old boy Jamal White was abducted on W Hustis St. while riding his bike.

CBS 58 obtained footage from a neighbor that shows the moment White was taken.

The video shows a white Jeep Renegade pulling up aside White, and two men getting out. One chases another man with a gun while the other grabs White and puts him in the Jeep.

About 24 hours later, Jamal was found after a community-wide search Saturday, July 12.

CBS 58 spoke with Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson about the search that led to White being found.

“This community really stood up to make sure that that young man was found and brought home safely," Johnson said. "When I saw that energy from our community, when I saw that commitment, that led me to believe that there’s really nothing that we can’t do.”

Mayor Johnson says the energy used during the search can also be used to solve other problems in the city, like gun violence.

“If we can utilize that same sort of energy, that same sort of passion, that same sort of mobilization, we can take on any challenge that faces Milwaukee, including issues around gun violence," Johnson said.

MPD confirmed that a 25-year-old has been arrested in direct relation to the abduction. The charges he is facing are unknown at this time.
