Not as hot for July 3rd but still very warm with strong storms possible
The dangerous heat has finally come to an end after four days in a row with high temperatures in the 90s and feels like temps well into the 100s. But highs on Friday will still be very warm in the upper 80s. Saturday's temps will depend on a lake breeze but lakeside areas might stay in the low 80s or even closer to 80 but inland areas might be more in the mid to upper 80s. The rest of next week looks cooler in the upper 70s to around 80.
Humidity levels will continue to stay elevated. It might not be in the miserable category like it was earlier this week but dew points will stay in the low to middle 70s today and tomorrow before dropping into the upper 60s for Sunday.
You are still going to sweat for the 4th of July weekend with feels like temps reaching as high as 100 on Friday and even for the 4th itself feeling like 85 to 95. Sunday will be better with feels like temps in the low 80s.
Both Wednesday and Thursday saw severe thunderstorms tap into all of the energy created by the heat. Wednesday saw numerous large hail reports and Thursday saw plenty of wind and power outages. More scattered showers and storms are possible Friday afternoon and evening.
Any of the storms that form Friday could be on the strong to severe side. All of southeast Wisconsin remains under a Level 1 Marginal Risk for stronger storms and southern counties near the Illinois border are under a Level 2 Slight Risk. While Saturday is no longer under any severe risk I do think some of the storms on Saturday could be on the stronger side. Strong wind and large hail will be the primary threats with any severe storms but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
Right now Independence Day is looking potentially even wetter than Friday with some scattered storms from the morning into the afternoon and even evening. It's going to be one of those days where some parades, cookouts and fireworks will be delayed or canceled but hopefully most communities great dry breaks to get some of the fun activities in.
