Packers add 5 players to Covid reserve list

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Covid-19 continues to play a part in professional sports leagues as well.

Monday, Dec. 27 was another day loaded with players being added to NFL protocols, including players on the Packers.

According to the NFL network's Tom Pelissero, a record 106 players were added to the Covid list. The Packers accounted for five of those players.

Due to injuries and Covid-19, Ben Braden, Amari Rodgers, Tipa Galeai and Ty Summers are the active roster players added to the Packers Covid list.

Including two practice squad players, a list that already included Marquez Valdes Scantling and Kevin King is now up to 10 players.

The Packers did not have players in the building Monday and want to take any steps to control any potential spread.

"We've even contemplated potentially, if we get more of these, maybe going to virtual meetings and then just showing up when we want to get together to go out on the field," Head Coach Matt LaFleur said.

Marquez Valdes Scantling was the first of the active players to go on the list in the middle of last week, so he has a chance to come back for Sunday night's game against the Vikings.

Only vaccinated players can test out early. Everyone else has a 10-day minimum on the Covid list.
