Racine County: 54-year-old man arrested for 9th OWI

UNION GROVE, Wis. (CBS 58) --- A 54-year-old Lyons man was arrested for his 9th OWI after a traffic stop in Union Grove Saturday, Dec. 26. 

Clifford Friederich was pulled over for a traffic stop around 7:45 p.m. after a sheriff deputy noticed Friederich may be impaired.

According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, once the car was stopped, Friederich got out of the car and attempted to enter St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Officials say Friederich stated he was stopping at the church to pray. The deputy could smell alcohol emitting from his breath.

According to a news release, Friederich refused to perform standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for his 9th offense OWI.

He is being held at the Racine County Jail on OWI 9th offense with a bond of $12,500.
