Scattered showers and a few storms on a warm and windy Tuesday
For the first time in almost two weeks, we finally have the chance at some measurable rain. After the flooding rains in April, we deserved (and needed) a dry break. And we certainly got it. The last time we had any measurable rain in Milwaukee as the last of April and even then we only picked up 0.01" of rain.
So far, May has seen no measurable rain at 0.00". Average rainfall by the 12th day of May is around an inch and a quarter. It is the second driest start to May ever on record with just a trace in the record books.
That dry streak should come to an end Tuesday. Scattered showers and some pockets of steady rain will be possible throughout the morning into the early evening hours. There will be some parts of the day but showers look likely. The best time for some soaking rain and embedded storms will be mid-morning through early afternoon.
Any storms that form along a cold front Tuesday afternoon and evening could be on the stronger side. A Level 1 Marginal Risk for strong to severe storms is currently in place for all of eastern Wisconsin. Some gusty wind and small hail will be the threats with any storms that develop.
Overall, rain totals don't look impressive. Those of you that just see showers might only get a tenth of an inch or less. Those that see downpours or a few storms could get closer to 0.30 or 0.40" of rain.
