Sprecher Brewery creates new label to celebrate Milwaukee's roots for 414 Day
GLENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) - Sprecher Brewery in Glendale is celebrating 414 Day with a new label on their award-winning root beer.
The brewery was founded in 1985 by Randy Sprecher. The new root beer labels pay homage to the original Walker's Point location of Sprecher Brewery, including the iconic smoke-stack over the city.
CBS 58 spoke with Tim Cigelske, Director of Communications at Sprecher Brewing Co. about the new effort to honor Milwaukee Day.
Cigelske hopes the new labels provide a taste of Milwaukee's history.
"We have 414 root beer this week in honor of Milwaukee Day on Thursday, April 14."
It's an effort paying tribute to the company's craft.
"It started out with Randy Sprecher in 1985 who founded the brewery and he was into Germanic-style beer. With his craft and with his style, he made a craft root beer that really took off and is our flagship today," said Cigelske.
Sprecher Brewery root beer was called the best root beer in the country by The New York Times.
"I drink a sip and I'm like that's good! Cheers to 414 Day!"
Cigelske says most of their sales come from non-alcoholic beverages. They have an array of sodas and are focused on a family-friendly environment with options for all.
The newly-labeled root beer is already for sale inside the brewery. In addition, Sprecher is offering special $4.14 pricing for all brewery tours to celebrate 4/14 day on April 14, 2022. Tours for this special promotional price can be booked online here.
