Doors Open Milwaukee provides walking tour of Cream City's oldest and most iconic locations
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Doors Open Milwaukee is a public celebration of the Cream City's neighborhoods, architecture and history. This event, put on by Historic Milwaukee, Inc., offers behind-the-scenes tours of commercial buildings, art galleries, urban gardens and more throughout downtown and various neighborhoods. More than 150 places will be highlighted. The event happens the weekend of September 27th. Most are free, but some tours are ticketed. There are also some self-guided tours. Just a side note. 5 Points Art Gallery & Studios will be one of the locations featured as part of "Doors Open." Its doors will be open on Sunday. But on Saturday, there's a special fundraiser called "Save The Gallery" Art & Music Festival. It runs from noon until 10 PM. The address is 3514 N. Port Washington Avenue in Milwaukee. The space is need of paying off a $260k balloon payment in order to avoid foreclosure and secure its future as a home for affordable artist housing, groundbreaking exhibitors, and community programming.
