MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Some young girls were able to visit an Air National Guard base to see what women are capable of.
A partnership between the WNBA team Chicago Sky and PEARLS for Teen Girls made this trip possible.
The young girls were able to meet female reserve members and learn all about their jobs at the 128th Air Refueling Wing in Milwaukee.
The kids were able to see firsthand how one female boom operator works to re-fuel planes mid-air by entering a boom simulator.
"It feels like women can do anything if they want to, if they put their mind to it," 10-year-old Grace Williams said.
Representatives from Chicago Sky tell CBS 58 that community outreach programs like these are critical to getting girls interested and aware of different career opportunities.
"If you don't know, you don't even know that this is available for you. So, it's important to expose the youth and the women to different things so they know they can do it too," Chicago Sky VP of Ticket Sales Anthony Whaley said.
