Archdiocese of Milwaukee offers prayer service for migrants and refugees
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than 100 people came together at Cathedral Square Park in downtown Milwaukee Monday for a prayer service for immigrants organized by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
They read from scripture, sang hymns, and talked about how immigration relates to biblical teachings.
Bishop James Schuerman led the event. He tells us he and the archdiocese wanted to show their support for people who have come to the U.S. from other countries.
"The whole purpose for this prayer service is to uphold human dignity," Bishop Schuerman said. "So we are praying that our leaders and regular people in our society really think about immigrants as our brothers and sisters."
Monday night's service included prayers for refugees and for governments and leaders to understand their struggles.
