Coldest air of the season arrives this weekend

NOW: Coldest air of the season arrives this weekend

Our fall chill has finally arrived! The temperatures Friday morning were the coldest of the season in some locations. Everyone except for Milwaukee dropped down into the 40s. A few locations hit 41* coming the closest we've seen to the 30s so far this season. I check the minute-by-minute observations for Milwaukee and we never dropped into the 40s there but the 50* we hit is coldest since last spring.

Friday morning may have been the coldest of the season, but it's going to get even colder this weekend. Low temps over the weekend and to start next week will drop into the 40s lakeside for the first time this season and some inland areas could even hit the upper 30s. I think most of our local area will stay away from frost concerns but the Madison area in south central Wisconsin could get a bit frosty.

High temperatures today and tomorrow will hover right around 60*. Most of southeast Wisconsin is still waiting to see our first fall high temp in the 50s. Sunday has trended a bit warmer with highs in the mid 60s and then next week is about 5* above-average in the upper 60s. Another 70* day is not out of the question there!

After another light shower chance Friday the rest of the weekend forecast looks very good and very fall like. Saturday is a mix of sun and clouds but there will be plenty of wind out of the northwest. Sunday has sunshine all day and not as much wind.
