Foo Fighters, Green Day to headline Harley-Davidson Homecoming Festival
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Harley-Davidson made a big announcement Wednesday morning, Jan. 18.
The Harley-Davidson Homecoming Festival will take over Milwaukee this summer for their 120th anniversary, with two major music headliners in Veterans Park.
The four-day festival is scheduled for July 13-16 across multiple venues, including six dealerships and the Harley-Davidson Museum.
"It will be a big, big, celebration," said Bill Davidson, the museum's vice president.
This summer's homecoming isn't just a milestone, it's the inaugural kickoff of an annual party.
"The homecoming festival is really what we're kicking off. It happens to coincide with the 120th [anniversary], so we're celebrating it all together," Davidson said.
Wednesday's biggest announcement: Green Day and Foo Fighters will headline shows at Veterans Park on July 14 and July 15, along with several other acts.
"That type of entertainment at Veterans Park, and then everything we've got going on, it's just going to be a great time to be in Milwaukee," Davidson said.
Veterans Park will also be home to a family-friendly festival during the day that includes music, entertainment, activities, and a variety of food options.
Overall, festival will serve as a celebration of Harley-Davidson's legacy and its Milwaukee birthplace.
"This is home. We have not left Milwaukee for 120 years and we're going to continue to be in Milwaukee," Davidson said.
Bikers are expected from around the globe.
Four rides across the US and two from Canada are already organized.
"Those six rides will slowly converge into the Milwaukee area, and end at our Engine Plant on Wednesday, July 12," Davidson said.
The festival ends Sunday, July 16 with a motorcycle parade through the city, ending at Veterans Park.
