The college says Watt is receiving the honorary degree for playing a major role in serving the community after Hurricane Harvey. Watt helped raise more than $37 million for Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston last fall.
On February 3, Watt was named the 2017 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year and in December was named one of Sports Illustrated’s “Sportspersons of the Year.”
