The jury has found Dominique Heaggan-Brown not guilty in the death of Sylville Smith. The jury has been deliberating since Tuesday afternoon and the verdict was announced on Wednesday.
Heaggan-Brown's trial started last week when prosecutors showed body camera video for the first time.
Sylville Smith was shot and killed last summer by Heaggan-Brown. The shooting led to days of unrest in Milwaukee's Sherman Park neighborhood.
There were twelve jurors on the jury including nine women and three men. Seven of the jurors are white and five are black.
Immediately after the verdict was announced the family of Sylville Smith left the courtroom in tears. The family of Heaggan-Brown let out a small cheer.
