Milwaukee's lakefront drone show returns for second year on July 3
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County Parks will host its drone show at McKinley Beach for the second consecutive year on Friday, July 3, after the 2025 show marked the first time the city replaced its Independence Day fireworks display with drones.
The 2026 show is billed as featuring three 15-minute waves of drones, including new pyrotechnic drones, set to an original soundtrack for a 45-minute performance, according to Milwaukee County Parks.
County Executive David Crowley is scheduled to give welcome remarks before the show begins.
Public viewing is available at McKinley Beach and McKinley Park. Parking costs $20 to $28 depending on location, with first-come, first-served lots opening at 2 p.m. and limited to about 1,000 spaces. Vendors, bounce houses and face painting open at 3 p.m.
Roads near the event may close before and during the show. A rain date is set for Sunday, July 5.
A lakefront cleanup is planned for Saturday, July 4 from 7 to 10 a.m.
