MPD releases video from police-involved shooting near 64th and Sheridan

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department released video Wednesday, from a police-involved shooting near 64th and Sheridan on June 16. 

According to police, multiple callers reported an active shooter in a second-floor apartment.

Two officers located a person matching the description of the suspect and discharged their weapons, striking him. 

Police say the suspect, identified as Deontau Ransom, was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive. He's charged with:

  • Stalking, use of a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse
  • Burglary (armed), domestic abuse
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon (two counts)
  • Endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon

Nineteen-year-old Damarion Williams Beal was also arrested for burglary as a party to a crime and possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent.

The officers involved are a 25-year-old male with over two years of service and a 30-year-old male with over eight years of service. They have been placed on administrative duty as is routine in an officer involved incident.

This is a fluid and ongoing investigation.
