Groundwork begins early July on Wisconsin's first Buc-ee's in Oak Creek
CBS 58 OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Get ready to snack on some Beaver Nuggets in 2028.
Construction crews will begin site grading and utility preparation Monday, July 6 at the southwest corner of I-94 and W. Elm Road, the future site of Wisconsin's first Buc-ee's Travel Center, according to the City of Oak Creek.
"We anticipate minor earth work commencing as early as the week of July 13. In August, City staff expect an active construction site through building completion," said Andrew Vickers, city administrator in a Wednesday, July 1 press release.
Buc-ee's has indicated that they expect the store to open in early 2028, though the timeline could move faster, Vickers said.
The 73,370-square-foot travel center will sit on a 29-acre site with 120 gas pumps, along with the chain's shopping and food, including fresh-cooked meals and snacks. It is expected to create about 175 full-time jobs and will operate 24 hours a day.
