Tap maple trees and watch sap turned to syrup at Riveredge Nature Center during maple sugarin' season

CBS 58

SAUKVILLE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It's prime maple sugarin' season in Wisconsin. Riveredge Nature Center will tap about 400 trees over the next month.

"And that results in approximately 75 gallons of maple syrup as our end product," said Amy Casey, marketing and communications at Riveredge Nature Center.

You can bring a group and take part in family tapping this Saturday, Feb. 28 or come out for the Maple Sugarin' Festival on Saturday, March 14 to see how the sap is turned into syrup and much more.

"We have stations where people can learn about nature, we have arts and crafts, there’s live music, everybody gets a pancake ticket," said Casey. "They get to try the trademark Riveredge secret recipe: pancakes, maple syrup and a pickle, for those who are brave enough to try it. It is a delicacy here."
