Milwaukee ranked top city for recent college grads
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Ahead of the start of the regular season, the Milwaukee Brewers are lending a helping hand to some deserving nonprofits.
The team hosted an event at American Family Field called "Beyond the Diamond" on Wednesday, March 26. They gave grants and care packages to organizations that support victims of domestic violence.
Those groups include the Sojourner Family Peace Center, Hope House, Waukesha Women's Center and Milwaukee Women's Center.
They were each given 250 care packages and given $5,000 grants to support their needs.
"We couldn't do our work without them. To have a partner walking alongside you that's not only an icon in the community who's iconic but also so generous," said Cherie Swenson, Sojourner Family Peace Center.
The care packages donated include everything from basic toiletries to clothes. Sojourner says they will be put to good use immediately.
