PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. (CBS 58) - What sounds like a parent’s worst nightmare ended with relief Wednesday afternoon.

First responders were called to a home on 39th Ave. after reports that a ceiling had collapsed, with an infant possibly trapped underneath.

Officials confirmed the 11-month-old baby is okay.

CBS 58 obtained 911 audio capturing the urgency of the response.

“You said the ceiling collapsed on an 11-month-old?”

“Affirmative. Ceiling collapses on 11-month-old.”

Moments later, dispatchers asked if the child was still trapped.

“Has the child been extricated or still under the debris?”

“The baby is out and no one is claiming injuries.”

First responders say the baby was conscious and breathing when they arrived and confirmed there were no serious injuries.

Crews made sure the child had been fully removed from the debris and remained on scene to check the stability of the remaining ceiling.

The landlord is helping the resident find temporary housing while repairs are made.

Officials have not said what caused the collapse. The investigation remains ongoing.
