Milwaukee man charged with first-degree reckless homicide in shooting of his father
Wisconsin Court System MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man, 28-year-old Miguel Angel Ocasio, faces a charge of first-degree reckless homicide in connection with a fatal shooting Thursday, Nov. 13.
That is according to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.
Ocasio is accused of shooting 50-year-old Miguel Roman Arocho, previously reported by CBS 58 to have been Ocasio's father, during an argument in the area of 16th and Rogers.
Milwaukee police responded to the scene at 7:45 p.m. and found Arocho with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The complaint cites a witness telling police she had been arguing with Ocasio, her ex-boyfriend, when Arocho came outside. The witness said Ocasio produced a gun and fired two shots before Arocho ran inside and then immediately came back out.
The witness is also cited as saying she did not see anything in Arocho's hands when he came back outside.
According to officials, Ocasio told police during an interview that Arocho threatened him with a firearm. Ocasio said he fired a warning shot because he believed Arocho was getting his gun and then fired two shots at Arocho. When asked if he saw anything in Arocho's hands, Ocasio said he did not see anything.
Ocasio made his initial appearance in court on Tuesday, Nov. 18. A judge set his cash bond for $100,000. He will be due back in court on Tuesday, Nov. 25 for his preliminary hearing.
