KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) — In Kenosha County, storms took down more than 60 power poles and miles of power lines along Highway 142, according to officials with We Energies.

During a press conference Friday afternoon, We Energies President Mike Hooper said around 40,000 customers had lost power but nearly 90% have it back.

“We were able to isolate this road, we’re following that same process to the east and that way we’re able to energize up to this point and pick up a lot of customers that had been otherwise been out,” Hooper said.

About 4,300 customers still remain without power.

Hooper said they’ve also received help from crews across Wisconsin and will continue to work around the clock.

For neighbors in the Town of Paris, any help is welcomed.

“There was just stuff everywhere and all of the wires and poles were down the whole way down the road,” said resident Liz Fox who was helping clean up her parent’s farm.

“We had those severe storms in April and severe, severe flooding so it feels like it’s only been a couple weeks since we finally

got the property all back together and picked up from that dose of severe storms and tornadoes that were in the area then.”

Matt Happ, the owner of Happy Tree Services of Burlington, said they received calls even before the possible tornado hit.

“I think the damage is still coming, our phone is still ringing,” Happ said. “I mean we’re probably on the eighth call which is fair for an average storm.”

If you have storm damage to report, call 211 for help.

“Everyone’s checking in on everyone which is amazing,” Fox said. “Things like this are the bad, but everyone helping is the good.”
